Mail, Spam, and Filtering
This is a policy to notify all users who have Head Start issued Google G-Suite accounts about Head Start's mail implementation and what Head Start can and cannot control. This is also to inform users of the common dangers of spam and how it is the parents' responsibility of safeguarding their child's GMAIL from unwanted communications. Finally Head Start shows an example of how to implement such a safeguard by implementing a filter. It is to be understood that the final responsibility of controlling and safeguarding a child's Google account is the parent's responsibility (or in case of a staff member, the staff member's responsibility)
Mail, Spam, and Filtering: Policy – For accounts issued to students
As an educational institution, Head Start has always believed in good practices that protect, to every extent possible, the safety and wellbeing of our students and general community. In this process, collaboration between our parents and our school is imperative, so both are informed, and aware, of any implications.
We have therefore framed this policy to notify all users who have Head Start issued Google G-Suite accounts (‘G-Suite account’), about Head Start's mail implementation and what Head Start can control. This is also to inform users of the common dangers of spam and how, along with us, it is also the parents' responsibility to safeguard their child's G-Suite account from unwanted communications.
We have listed below certain recommendations on how you can safeguard your child’s G-Suite account using certain filters. However, it is to be understood that the final responsibility of controlling and safeguarding a child's G-Suite account rests on the parent.

This policy is in addition to the SriToni site policy that all parents and staff have read, understood, and accepted prior to activating their accounts.
By clicking on the ‘Accept’ button below, the parent or the Staff as the case maybe, confirms the following:
I, the parent of this logged in user or staff, have read and understood the mail implementation details specified by the school at this link.
I acknowledge that it is my responsibility as a parent to safeguard my child's G-suite account (or mine, if staff) from undesired spam mail by taking all precautions.
I acknowledge that third party generated spam is outside of the school’s control and undertake to not hold the school liable in any manner if the user receives any such spam on the G-Suite account.
I have read, understood and acknowledged the school’s recommendations to safeguard my child's G-Suite account by way of setting up a filter and whitelisting domains.
I understand that the filter is supposed to reject all mail not originating from an approved list of domains.
I understand that I can edit this filter and add or remove domains as I deem fit, to protect my child from spam. I also understand that while a filter enhances security, it parallelly limits access.
I understand that the school may modify the filter from time to time and it is my responsibility to decide whether to incorporate the updates into my child's G-Suite account’s filter.
